Retail brand website

Overview

Overview

The brand was selling well in the shop and losing the sale online. The site had been built for a desktop audience and every real customer arrived on a phone.

We rebuilt the storefront around the way people actually buy: land on a product, understand it in one screen, and get to checkout without hunting for the button.

The brief

Retail traffic is mostly mobile and mostly impatient. The old site asked a phone user to pinch, scroll sideways and load images that were sized for a laptop, then handed them a four-step checkout.

The brief was narrow on purpose: make the product pages fast, make the basket obvious, and stop charging the customer for our convenience.

What we built

  • A product page rebuilt around images, price and size in the first screen
  • Navigation flattened to categories people actually browse
  • A two-step checkout with a single call to action on every screen
  • Content the team can edit without a developer

Performance

The rebuild cut load time by roughly 40% on mobile and removed the third-party scripts that were only there to patch the old theme. Fewer requests, smaller images, and no page builder in the critical path.

Outcome

A storefront that behaves like the brand does in person - quick, confident and easy to buy from - and a team that can publish a new collection without asking anyone.

The Challenge

Every visit started on a phone and the site was built for a desktop: oversized images, a checkout that asked for details twice, and a product page that buried the price below the fold. The brand was paying for traffic it could not convert, and the team could not fix anything without a developer.

Our Approach

We rebuilt the storefront around one path - product, basket, checkout - and removed everything that sat between them. Images were resized and lazily loaded, third-party scripts were dropped, the basket became a single obvious action, and the content was moved into templates the retail team can edit themselves.

"A storefront should feel like walking into the shop, not filling in a form."
